Brothers and Sisters,
A few thoughts on the law of Almighty GOD (Jehovah, Yehuwah). The Scriptures tell us clearly that, “without the shedding of blood there is no remission for sin.” Hebrews 9:22 and 10:18. But why blood? Who was requiring the shed blood of all those innocent animals? And Who was requiring the shed blood of Christ Jesus (Moshiac Yehushua)?
Was it GOD the Father, or was it His law?
And if it was the law itself, does that mean that His law is greater than He ? And why did (and does) the law require blood?
Something to consider – “For the life of the flesh is in the blood . . .!” Leviticus 17:11
Jehovah’s law (His character, and instructions in righteousness) requires the life, therefore the blood. This is why Yehushua (Jesus) came to the earth as a man, in human flesh . . . of the Seed of Abraham . . . made like unto His brethren.
“Wherefore, when He cometh into the world He saith, Sacrifice and offering, and burnt offerings for sin Thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein, which are offered by the law . . .
For in burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin (failure, habitual sinfulness), Thou hast had no pleasure! Then said I, lo, I come, in the volume of the book it is written of Me, to do Thy will, O GOD!” Hebrews 10:4-9
The entire law of GOD is summed up in these Words, “Thou shalt love the LORD (Yehuwah) thy God (Elohim), with all thy heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength . . . and the second is like this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself!” Mark 12:28-34, Matthew 22:34-40 and Luke 10:25-29.
For, as the apostle Paul says, “Love is the fulfilling of the law!” Romans 13:10 And again in I Corinthians 13 we are given a very clear picture of what true love is:
“Charity suffereth long, and is kind . . . envieth not . . .vaunteth not itself . . . is not puffed up!”
Charity = self-sacrificing love, kindness, from principle rather than strictly emotion, preferring others over one self.
The law of Jehovah (Yehuwah) is love, and only through self-sacrifice can it be kept. But isn’t this what the Lord Jesus Christ came to reveal to us almost two thousand years ago?
“For greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends!” John 15:13
“And therefore doth My Father love Me, because I lay down My Life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself . . .!” John 10:17-18
And does not the Spirit of Christ repeat these very same Words throughout the entire New Testament?
As Paul declares, “I die daily!” I Corinthians 15:31
“For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain!” Philippians 1:21
“I am crucified with Christ (The Anointed, Anointing): nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of GOD (Jehovah, Yehuwah), Who loved me, and gave Himself for me!” Galatians 2:20
“For if ye live after (by) the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit . . . Now the Lord is that Spirit . . . do mortify (put to death) the deeds of the body, ye shall live!” Romans 8:10-13 and ref: II Corinthians 3:17.
“And He (Yehushua) said unto them all, If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for My sake, the same shall find it!” Luke 9:23-24
“For whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself, shall be exalted!” Matthew 23:12
“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus (The Anointing of Jehovah’s Salvation), Who . . . being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore GOD hath highly exalted Him . . .!” Philippians 2:5-9
“The science of redemption is the science of all sciences; the science that is the study of the angels and of all the intelligences of the unfallen worlds; the science that engages the attention of our Lord and Saviour; the science that enters into the purpose brooded in the mind of the Infinite–“kept in silence through times eternal” (Romans 16:25, R.V.); the science that will be the study of God’s redeemed throughout endless ages. This is the highest study in which it is possible for man to engage. As no other study can, it will quicken the mind and uplift the soul.
“The excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it.” “The Words that I speak unto you,” said Jesus, “they are Spirit, and they are Life.” “This is life eternal, that they should know Thee the only true God, and Him Whom Thou didst send.” Ecclesiastes 7:12; John 6:63; 17:3,
The creative energy that called the worlds into existence is in the Word of God. This Word imparts power; it begets life. Every command is a Promise! accepted by the will, received into the soul, it brings with it the Life of the Infinite One. It transforms the nature and re-creates the soul in the image of God.” Education p.126
“For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices. But this thing commanded (Promised) I them, saying, Obey My Voice, and I will be your God (Elohim – Almighty One), and ye shall be My people!” Jeremiah 7:22-23
“And Samuel said, Hath the LORD (Yehuwah) as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the Voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams!” I Samuel 15:22
“For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God (Elohim) . . . For this is Life eternal, that they might know Thee, the Only True GOD, and Jesus Christ Whom Thou hast sent . . . more than burnt offerings. But they like men have transgressed the Covenant: they have dealt treacherously against Me!” Hosea 6:6-7
“Yea, they despised the pleasant land, and they believed not His Word! But murmured in their tents, and hearkened not unto the Voice of the LORD . . . Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in His Salvation!” Psalm 106:24-25 & 78:22
“For unto us was the gospel (Glad Tidings) proclaimed, as well as unto them, but the Word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it! . . . . Wherefore, as the Holy Spirit saith, Today (even Now!), if ye will hear His Voice, harden not your hearts, as in . . . the day of temptation in the wilderness!”
Read Exodus 20 again – Every command is a Promise!
‘Thou shalt not’ is really the Promise of the Creator of heaven and earth, Who with the same spoken Word, brought worlds into existence! And that same Word today, which liveth and abideth forever, dwells in our hearts by faith!
And that same Word is able to do above and beyond all that we can ask or think. ‘Thou shalt not . . .’ is really, You will not! . . . I Promise!
“Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious Promises, that by these (Living, Spirit-filled Words) ye might be partakers of the pine nature!” II Peter 1:4
And the same Spirit of the Living GOD, which is in these Words . . . for the Words which I speak unto you, they are Spirit, and they are Life . . . will work in you both to will and to do that which pleases Him! ref: John 6:63 & Philippians 2:13
For it is “Christ in you, the Hope of glory!” Colossians 1:27
“Blessed are they that do His commandments (by the faith of Jesus, Who lives and dwells within us), that they may have right (as joint heirs with Christ) to the Tree of Life, and may enter in through the gates into the city!” Revelation 22:14
“For be ye doers of the Word (by faith), and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” James 1:21-22
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not in by the Door . . . but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. . . . I Am the Door . . . I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life . . . by Me if any man enter in, he shall be saved!” John 10:1-9 & 14:6
