Salvation and Freedom -

rejoice

He came to set the captives free !

For all those who want to be free indeed – Freedom from doubt and fear, freedom from guilt and shame, freedom from rejection,  anger, resentment, bitterness, and hate. Freedom from selfishness and pride, freedom from the control and dominion of sin, freedom from carnal desire and all the deceitful lusts of the flesh . . . There is hope, and there is a Deliverer . . . !

For it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord (the Sovereign King) shall be Saved !”     Acts 2:21 & Romans 10:13

The way of Salvation is a simple one . . . simple and yet so full of power !
– To Hearpilgrims progress 1
– to Believe
– to Call upon Him
– to Choose
– to Repent
– to Surrender
 and to Walk

One of the first questions that must be answered is, What is Salvation?  and what does it really mean to be Saved?   The Word of the Living God gives us the answer in clarity and in Truth. Below are the definitions in their original hebrew and greek of the text.

Saved (H3467, G4982) =      to open wide, set free, rescue, succor, deliver, defend, give victory, heal and make whole !

Salvation (H3444, G4991) = deliverance, aid, help, victory, health, welfare, prosperity,
moral or physical rescue and safety

So we see that Salvation is not merely a ticket to heaven, it is not reserved for some future day, when Christ Jesus returns in the clouds of heaven. But Salvation is now !  Salvation and freedom is something which He came to give to every one who will exercise simple living (active) faith in His Word, knowing that He cannot lie, and that He will do exactly as He has Promised !
ref: Numbers 23:19, Titus 1:2 & Hebrews 6:18

“For He saith . . . I have heard thee _______ (your name) in a time accepted, and in the day of Salvation have I succoured (rescued) thee . . . Behold, now is the accepted time,* Behold, Today is the day of your Salvation . . . if ye will only hear My Voice !”
II Corinthians 6:2 and Hebrews 3:7

Often it is asked, “But how can we know which of these definitions apply in this verse? And the answer is so simple, and yet so powerful that it will change your life –   Which of these do hunger and thirst for; and for which of these are you in the greatest need ?

For all of the prophecies of the old testament Scriptures pointed forward to the One Who was to come. And it is He, Jesus Christ (Yehushua ha Moshiac) which is our Salvation, our Deliverer, our Redeemer, our Healer and our Righteousness !

“And Jesus returned in the power* of the Spirit into Galilee . . . and as His custom was, He went into the synagogue (your church, congregation)  on the Sabbath day, and stood up for to read . . . And when He had opened the scroll, He found the place where it is written . . . .
The Spirit of the LORD (Jehovah, Yehuwah) is upon Me, because He hath anointed Me to proclaim Glad Tidings (gospel) to the poor; He hath sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim deliverance to the captives, and the recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised . . . . And to proclaim the acceptable year* of the Lord (our Sovereign King) !”
Luke 4:14-19 & Isaiah 61:1-3

Let us read aloud again this promise from Acts 2:21, only now let us read it from the old testament Scriptures from which the apostles were quoting . . .

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said . . . !”     Joel 2:32

So Who is this Jesus, and what makes Him different from any other man?  And how can we be delivered and set free, just by calling upon His name ?

“And the angel said unto her, Fear not Mary: for thou hast found favour with GOD. And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and . . . that Holy One which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God . . . And thou shalt call His name JESUS (Yehushua – from H3091+3467 – Jehovah’s Salvation, Yehuwah saves !) . . .

And thou shalt call His name JESUS, for He shall save His people from their sins ! . . .

And He shall be great (mighty), and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the LORD God shall give unto Him the throne of His father David. And He shall Reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of His Kingdom there shall be no end . . . !”
Luke 1:30-37 & Matthew 1:21

All rights which the devil had, all dominion which Satan (the Accuser) claimed as his alone, and every soul that he claims as his own through ignorance, transgression, iniquity and sin, the Lord Jesus Christ has canceled and taken back. All that was lost through our world’s first prince Adam, the Second Adam (Jesus) has won back.       ref: I Corinthians 15:45 & Romans 5:12-21

Lord (G2962, H136 – Adoni) = Sovereign, King, Ruler
Christ (G5547 – Khristos) = Anointed, to consecrate with Oil

The Lord Jesus Christ was born into this world for one single purpose – to win back the dominion, and Head of the human family, which was lost by the father of our race, when he yielded his reign to Satan at that forbidden tree in Eden. To redeem all of mankind; to gain for each of us that victory which would be impossible except through  faith in Him. And to restore in man the image, likeness, and the Character of our Father in heaven; breaking the chains of sin in which we have been bound for all of our lives ! . . . Yea,  He is verily, King of kings, and Lord of lords.

Know ye not that to whom ye yeiled yourselves servants to obey . . . his servants (slaves) ye are to whom ye obey . . . whether of sin (I John 3:4) unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness ?”     Romans 6:16

This world was taken captive by a usurper almost 6000 years ago, and since that fateful day every man, woman and child who has been born only once, has been born in sin, born with a fallen nature, born under the condemnation of God’s law of life. All of us were as slaves working for a cruel master on his plantation. Without any hope of redemption or deliverance from a life of habitual failure and doubt and sin . . .

“For we had the sentence of death in ourselves . . . so that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead . . . and calleth those things which be not, as though they already were . . .
Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver . . . In Whom we trust (have faith because He hath promised) that He will yet deliver us . . . !”
II Corinthians 1:9-10 and Romans 4:17-25

And then one day, a man passed by, and saw us sweating under the taskmaster’s lash and heavy burdens. And as this man of God stopped and looked in wonder, he took from beneath his arm, a book and read from it’s pages the Glad Tidings of our emancipation !

But although he was very happy to share his Glad Tidings (gospel), most of us refused to believe. And although the document contained the president’s signature and seal, only a few would take the step of faith, and shake off the chains in which they were bound, and had grown accustomed to for so many years !

So the question we must ask is: When President Abraham Lincoln signed that Emancipation Proclamation, how many of the slaves were made free men?   And if we see a man or woman still wearing the chains of a slave, what must we do in order to help them know that they have already been made free ?

“For the Scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed (put to shame) . . . And whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord (Adoni – Sovereign King) shall be Saved (delivered, set free, healed) . . . .

But how can they call on Him in Whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in Him of Whom they have not heard ? . . . As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that proclaim the Glad Tidings of Peace (between God and man) !

But they have not all obeyed (believed and walked in) the gospel. For Isaiah saith, LORD, who hath believed our report?   So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God !”     Romans 10:11-17

Quote –     “Jesus knows the circumstances of every soul. The greater the sinner’s guilt, the more he needs the Saviour. His heart of divine love and sympathy is drawn out most of all for the one who is the most hopelessly entangled in the snares of the redliquiddropenemy. With His Own blood He has signed the emancipation papers of the race !

Jesus does not desire those who have been purchased at such a cost to become the sport of the enemy’s temptations. He does not desire you ______ (your name) to be overcome and perish. He Who curbed the lions in their den, and walked with His faithful witnesses amid the fiery flames, is just as ready to work in our behalf to subdue every evil in our nature . . . He turns no weeping, contrite one away. Freely will He pardon all who come to Him for forgiveness and restoration. He does not tell to any all that He might reveal, but He bids every trembling soul take courage. Whosoever will, may take hold of God’s strength, and make peace with Him, and He will make peace.
Isaiah 27:5 & Isaiah 45:22-25

“All that the Father giveth Me shall come to Me, and he that cometh to Me,
I will in no wise cast out . . . !”     John 6:37

The souls that turn to Him for refuge, Jesus lifts above the accusing and the strife of tongues. No man or evil angel can impeach these souls. Christ unites them to His Own Divine-human nature (II Peter 1:4). They stand beside the great Sin Bearer in the Light proceeding from the throne of God.

The blood of Jesus Christ “cleanses from all sin.“     I John 1:7.

“What shall we then say to these things?   If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not His Own Son, but delivered (surrendered) Him up in exchange for us all . . . how shall He not with Him also freely give* (grant favor, kindness, pardon, forgive, rescue, deliver) us all things . . .

Who shall lay anything to the charges of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth* (renders, declares innocence, holy, and righteousness). Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, Who is even at the right hand of God, Who also maketh intercession for us . . . !”    Romans 8:33-34 & Isaiah 50:7-10

ascensionChoose ye this day whom ye will serve ?

“Then came Jesus (Yehushua) and spake unto them saying . . . All power is given unto Me (as the Son of God and the Son of man) in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore . . . into all the world, and proclaim the Glad Tidings to every creature . . .

For he that believeth and is baptized (with the Spirit) shall be saved (delivered, rescued, set free, healed and made whole) . . . !”     Matthew 28:18-19 & Mark 16:15-20

The path of Salvation is a very simple one, so simple yet full of power!   It is a gift freely given to all, and yet it costs everything in order to obtain it . . . Everything, even our own life !

– To hear the Glad Tidings of Salvation in Christ Jesus – to Believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord (the Sovereign King) ! – to Call upon the name of the Lord (for whosoever calleth upon the name of the Lord shall not be put to shame) ! – to Choose ye this day whom ye will serve ? – to Repent and be baptized for the remission* (pardon, forgiveness, deliverance) of sins & receive the gift of the Spirit of Christ – to Surrender entirely your life (your desires, affections, plans, goals), and your will to Him ! – to Stand and Walk in the Spirit, and through faith and obedience present your bodies each day as a living sacrifice unto the LORD our God !

“For the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise . . . Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven (that is to bring Christ down again from above)? Or, Who shall descend into the deep (the grave – that is to bring Christ up again from the dead)?

But what saith it?   The Word is nigh thee _______ (your name), even in thy mouth, and in thy heart . . . and that is the Word of faith which we proclaim !   That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus (that Jesus is Lord and Sovereign King), and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead . . . thou shalt be saved (delivered, rescued, set free, healed and made whole) !

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession (to profess, to speak aloud) is made unto Salvation. For the Scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on Him (the Word of God) shall not be put to shame . . . !”
Romans 10:6-13
