Freedom & Victory from Sin ?

captives freeBeing then (now) made free from sin, ye became (have become) servants of righteousness . . . !”   Romans 6:16-23

“ Through yielding to sin, man placed his will under the control of Satan. He became a helpless captive in the tempter’s power. God sent His Son into our world to break the power of Satan, and to emancipate the will of man. He sent Him to proclaim liberty (freedom) to the captives, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free !

“For it shall come to pass in that day,* that his burden shall be taken away (Romans 7:1-24) from off thy shoulder, and his (Adam’s – Romans 5:12-19) yoke from off thy neck . . . and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the Anointing !”     Isaiah 10:27

“And Jesus (Yehushua) returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee . . . And as His custom was,
He
went into the synagogue (church, congregation) on the Sabbath day, and stood up for to read. And there was delivered unto Him the scroll of the prophet Esaias (Isaiah). And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written . . . .

The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, because He hath Anointed Me to preach the Glad Tidings to the poor; (Matthew 5:3) He hath sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim deliverance to the captives, and recover-ing of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised. To proclaim the acceptable year* (time of accep-tance) of the Lord (Adoni- the Sovereign King) . . . !”   Luke 4:14-19 & Isaiah 61:1-3

“For He saith, I have heard thee ________ (your name) in a time accepted,* and in the Day of Salvation have I succoured thee . . . Behold, now is the accepted time;* Behold, Today is the day of Salvation !
II Corinthians 6:2 & Isaiah 49:8-9
“as the Holy Spirit saith . . . Today, if ye will hear His Voice, and harden not your hearts . . . . For unto us was the Glad Tidings proclaimed, as well as unto them, but the Word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it !”   Hebrews 3:7-8 & 4:2

Quote –   “The creative energy that called the world into existence is in the Word of God. This Word imparts power; it begets Life. Every command is a Promise; accepted by the will, received into the soul (the heart), it brings with it the Life of the Infinite One. It transforms the nature and recreates the soul in the image (likeness) of God. The Life thus imparted is in like manner sustained. “By every Word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God . . . !”     – Signs of the Times, April 11, 1906

“And for this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because . . . when ye received the Word of God which ye heard of us, ye received It not as the word of men (yea, nay or maybe), but as It is in Truth (Verity), the Word of God (Deity) which effectually worketh also in you that believe !”       I Thessalonians 2:13, John 14:10-11 & Philippians 2:13

“Wherefore, lay aside all filthiness and superfluity (abundance) of naughtiness . . . and receive with meekness (humility) the engrafted Word (John 15:1-7), which is able to save your souls. And be ye doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves . . . . For whosoever looketh into the perfect Law of liberty, and continueth (by faith) therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed !”
James 1:21-25

Quote –   “The Word of God is the Seed (Luke 8:11). Every seed has in itself a germinating principle. In it the life of the plant is enfolded. So there is Life in God’s Word. Christ says, “The Words that I speak unto you, they are Spirit, and they are Life.” John 6:63. “He that heareth My Word, and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting Life.” John 5:24.      In every Command and in every Promise of the Word of God is the power, the very Life of God, by which the command may be fulfilled and the promise realized. He who by faith receives the Word is receiving the very Life and character of God !”   – Christ’s Object Lessons, p.38

“And God spake all these Words, saying . . . I promise you, thou shalt have no other gods before Me. Thou shall not make unto thee any graven images, or any likeness . . . and I promise you, Thou shall not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them . . . !”   Exodus 20:1-5

I will be as the dew (early and latter Rain) unto Israel: and they shall grow as the lily, and cast forth their roots as Lebanon. They that dwell under their shadow shall return (repent, verse 1), and they shall revive as the grain, and grow as the vine: and their scent thereof shall be as the wine of Lebanon . . . . And Ephraim shall say, What have I to do any more with idols?   for I have heard Him, and observed Him, and now I am like a green fir tree. From me is thy fruit found . . .”
Hosea 14:5-8 & Galatians 5:22-25

“Then said Jesus to those . . . which believed on Him . . . If ye continue in My Word, then are ye My disciples indeed (Luke 6:46). And ye shall know the Truth (verity of My Words) and the Truth shall make you free . . . For the Words that I speak unto you, they are Spirit and they are Life !”                                                                                                                      John 8:31-36 & 6:63

By pouring the whole treasury of heaven into this world, by giving us in Christ all heaven, God has pur-chased the will, the affections, the mind, the soul, of every human being. When man places himself under the control of God, the will becomes firm and strong to do right, the heart is cleansed from selfishness, and filled with Christlike self-sacrificing love. The mind yields to the authority of the law of love, and every thought is brought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.   ref: II Corinthians 10:4-5

And hereby we do know that we know Him, if we keep His Commandments. For he that saith, I know Him, and yet keepeth not His Commandments, is a liar (John 8:37-47), and the Truth is not in him . . . But he that keepeth His Commandments dwelleth in Him, and He in him. And hereby we know that He abideth in us, by the Spirit which He hath given us . . . !”     I John 2:3-6 & 3:24

When the will is placed on the LORD’s side, the Holy Spirit takes that will and makes it one with the Divine will. The LORD loves man. He has given evidence of this love by giving His Only Begotten Son to die for man, that through His Grace* (the divine Influence upon the heart), He might redeem him from hostility to God, and bring him back to his loyalty. If man will cooperate with God, the LORD will bring his will into connection with Himself, and will vitalize it by His Own Spirit . . .

The gospel (Glad Tidings) must be received in order to regenerate the heart . . .      “For I am not ashamed of the Glad Tidings of Christ: for it is the power of God unto Salvation to every one that believeth . . . . As it is written, The just shall live by faith !”   Romans 1:16-17

Salvation (H3444, 3468, G4982, 4991) = Delivered, rescued, set free, healed and made whole again !

Note:     we must take hold of God’s every promise, and in living (active) faith, appropriate it as our own. Knowing that what He has spoken, He is speaking to us Today. And that He is faithful Who hath promised, and His Word shall not return unto Him void !      “And it came to pass, when He (Jesus, Yehushua) was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face (worshipped), and besought Him, saying . . . Lord (Sovereign, King), if Thou wilt, Thou canst make me clean!   And Jesus put forth His hand, and touched him, saying . . . I will, Be thou clean!   And immediately the leprosy departed from him . . . !”   Luke 5:12-15

And Today, that same Word liveth and abideth for ever, and Jesus is saying to you, and to I, “Now ye are clean, through the Word which I have spoken unto you !”  “Today, if you will only hear My Voice, and harden not your hearts . . .”  John 15:3 & Hebrews 3:7-8

“And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto Him a centurion, beseeching Him, and saying . . . Lord (Sovereign, King), my servant lieth at home, sick of the palsy, and grievously tormented. And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.   But the centurion answered and said, I am not worthy that Thou shouldest come under my roof . . . but speak the Word only, and my servant shall be healed !     When Jesus heard this, He marveled, and said unto them that followed . . . Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no not in all of Israel . . . . And then Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour . . . !”    Matthew 8:5-13

“Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda . . . And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. And when Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he has been now a long time in that case, He saith unto him . . . Wilt thou be made whole?

And the impotent man answered Him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: for while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. Then Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed and walk ! . . .”   John 5:1-9

“The same power that Christ exercised when He walked visibly among men is in His Word. It was by His Word that Jesus healed disease and cast out demons; by His Word He stilled the sea and raised the dead, and the people bore witness that His Word was with power.

He spoke the Word of God, as He had spoken to all the prophets and teachers of the Old Testament. The whole Bible is a manifestation of Christ (The Anointed, the Anointing) . . . “for the Words that I speak unto you, they are Spirit, and they are Life !”   John 6:63

The Scriptures are to be received as God’s Word to us, not written merely, but spoken!  When the afflicted ones came to Christ, He beheld not only those who asked for help, but all who throughout the ages should come to Him in like need and with like faith. When He said to the paralytic, “Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee;” when He said to the woman of Capernaum, “Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace,” He spoke to other afflicted, sin-burdened ones who should seek His help.     Matthew 9:2; Luke 8:48

So with all the Promises of God’s Word. In them He is speaking to us individually, speaking as directly as if we could listen to His Voice. It is in these Promises that Christ communicates to us His grace* (G5485 – Divine Influence) and power.”     – Ministry of Healing, p.124

“We are too faithless. Oh, how I wish that I could lead our people to have faith in God! They need not feel that in order to exercise faith they must be wrought up into a high state of excitement. All they (you) have to do is to believe God’s Word, just as they believe one another’s word. He hath said it, and He will perform His Word. Calmly rely on His promise, because He means all that He says.      Say, He has spoken to me in His Word, and He will fulfill every Promise that He has made. Do not become restless. Be trustful. God’s Word is True (verity). Act as if your heavenly Father could (can) be trusted . . . !”      – I Selected Messages, p.84

“The sick man was lying on his mat and occasionally lifting his head to gaze at the pool, when a tender, compassionate face bent over him, and the words, “Wilt thou be made whole?” arrested his attention. Hope came to his heart. He felt that in some way he was to have help. But the glow of encouragement soon faded. He remembered how often he had tried to reach the pool, and now he had little prospect of living till it should again be troubled. He turned away wearily, saying, “Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.” Jesus bids him, “Rise, take up thy bed, and walk !”      With a new hope the sick man looks upon Jesus. The expression of His countenance, the tones of His Voice, are like no other. Love and power seem to breathe from His very presence. The cripple’s faith takes hold upon Christ’s Word. Without question he sets his will to obey, and, as he does this, his whole body responds !

Every nerve and muscle thrills with new life, and healthful action comes to his crippled limbs. Springing to his feet, he goes on his way with firm, free step, praising God and rejoicing in his new-found strength. Jesus had given the palsied man no assurance of Divine help.

The man might have said, “Lord, if Thou wilt make me whole, I will obey Thy Word.” He might have stopped to doubt, and thus have lost his one chance of healing. But no, he believed Christ’s Word, believed that he was made whole; immediately he made the effort, and God gave him the power; he willed to walk, and he did walk. Acting on the Word of Christ, he was made whole.

By sin we have been severed from the Life of God. Our souls are palsied. Of ourselves we are no more capable of living a holy life than was the impotent man capable of walking. Many realize their helplessness; they are longing for that spiritual life which will bring them into harmony with God, and are striving to obtain it. But in vain. In despair they cry, “O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from this body of death?” Romans 7:24, margin.

Let these desponding, struggling ones look up! The Saviour is bending over the purchase of His blood, saying with inexpressible tenderness and pity, “Wilt thou be made whole ?” He bids you arise in health and peace. Do not wait to feel that you are made whole. Believe the Saviour’s Word. Put your will on the side of Christ. Will (choose) to serve Him, and in acting upon His Word you will receive strength!

Whatever may be the evil practice, the master passion which through long indulgence binds both soul and body, Christ is able and longs to deliver!   He will impart Life to the soul that is “dead in trespasses.” Ephesians 2:1. He will set free the captive that is held by weakness and misfortune and the chains of sin !”                       – Desire of Ages, p.204 & Ministry of Healing, p.84-86
The gospel (Glad Tidings) must be received (believed, and appropriated as our own) in order to regenerate the heart . . .

“As the Holy Spirit saith . . . Today, if ye will hear His Voice, and harden not your hearts . . .  !”   Hebrews 3:7-8 & 4:2
